First available in 1983, the Beaufort® Waxed Jacket, designed by Chairman Dame Margaret Barbour, is one of Barbour's most iconic waxed jackets, featuring a useful full-width, lined, rear Pocket.
Fully interactive with a detachable hood and liner, the Beaufort® truly is the ultimate, classic all-year-round jacket. Made with medium weight 6oz Thornproof waxed cotton and featuring Velcro wind cuffs and the recognisable studded corduroy collar, the Beaufort® will provide good protection in all weathers. The relaxed-fit jacket features a chunky two-way Barbour ring-pull zip and studded 'Stormfly' close front, two generous bellows pockets and two waist-height moleskin hand warmer pockets for everyday practicality.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the Beaufort® was originally designed in 1983 as a sporting jacket. The style and design were inspired by Chairman Dame Margaret Barbour's visits to France where sporting jackets tended to have more features and style than was usually the case in the UK at that time. The name, Beaufort® was chosen to highlight the continental character of the piece.
Modern Beauforts®, such as this, are lined with the Classic Barbour Tartan which is based on the tartan sett from the Barbour family's original home county of Ayrshire.
The Barbour Beaufort® Wax Jacket boasts an interactive design that allows you to add a liner for warmth and a waxed hood for all-weather protection.
