Shipping Information

For now, all orders will be shiped USPS. They have the best shipping terms for the mountain, so why not? If you would rarther us ship UPS or Fed-Ex, please call when you place your order and let us know. If your shipping address is a P.O. Box or APO, your order will always be delivered via USPS. Orders are typically shipped out in 1-2 business days. All products are shipped from our store in Tennessee.

If you would rather come into the store and pick up your package, you need to place your oder via phone/fax when given the option at checkout. This will allow us to run your credit card information over the phone and hold the package. If you would like us to deliver a package to a Sewanee Student for you, we will be happy to do so for no charge if you give us a call. We will make the delivery to the SPO where they can pick it up. Thanks for your undestanding and cooperation with this policy.

UPS and USPS do not count the pick-up day as a day in transit. The average time in transit for UPS Ground is 3-6 business days, but please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery.

UPS does not deliver Saturday or Sunday, nor do they count them as days in transit. Any order placed on Friday will be shipped out the following Monday, including Next Day Air packages.

Returns & Exchanges

Products may be returned or exchanged by mail or at our store within 30 days of receiving your order. Items must have tags still attached, show no signs of use (subject to our discretion), and be returned in the original manufacturer’s packaging.

Certain items cannot be returned or exchanged. Closeout items (those marked off 40% or more) purchased at our retail store or online may not be returned or exchanged. For your safety, life supporting climbing gear, such as carabiners, harnesses and ropes, cannot be returned or exchanged either.

For those who have not bought products yet, a warning – We encourage you to try on different clothes regularly and understand that every article of clothing or footwear is designed differently and could be sized differently. Some products are sized to allow layering while others are designed to be warn tight. They key is to know your body and know what works for you. We are always happy to exchange your product for a different size, however we want you to be able to enjoy your product as quickly as possible and not wait the 3-4 weeks it might take (in the worst case scenario) to exchange it.

We encourage you to call us as soon as you make the decision to return or exchange your item. We are happy to answer any questions about your product or help you through the return process. If we need to order a replacement, which we will attempt to do if we don’t have what you are looking for in stock (Click here for information about Special Orders), it could be 2 to 3 weeks before we are able to ship you your new item. The earlier you contact us, the quicker we can serve you.

Exchanges

If you are exchanging an item, we recommend that you call immediately (931-924-4100) and talk to a sales associate to ensure that it does not go out of stock.

While we do not cover your return shipping costs, we are happy to ship your exchange item for free (excluding items costing under $30). After the first exchange you will be responsible for all shipping costs.

Special Orders

At Mountain Outfitters, we are always working to provide you with the quality products that you want. If there is any product that you are looking for that we do not have in stock – please give us a call and see if we can help you find it. We are always willing to do what it takes to satisfy you so do not hesitate to call or write with requests. Who knows, if we like the product you order enough, we may start carrying it full time!

Privacy Statement

Mountain Outfitters pledges that we will NEVER sell, trade, or lease your personal information to third parties. We hate being harassed by people who spam us and vow never to do that to our customers. We promise to treat you like we would like to be treated – with respect. In fact, only a few people in our own company will have access to your information. Even then, they will only have access to it so that they can fill your order or assist you. We won’t pass on your information to anyone – and will never send you an e-mail that you didn’t sign up to receive. We won’t even pass your information on to our ‘partners’ like other sites might do. Our site uses an order form for visitors to purchase products and request information and services. We collect users' contact information including but not limited to addresses, emails, phone numbers and financial information (such as credit card numbers). Contact information from the order form is used to send orders and information about our company to our users. The user's contact information is also used to contact customers directly when necessary (for instance with questions about their orders). Financial information that is collected is used to bill the customer for products and services.
