Shipping Policy
The Mountain Outfitters ships UPS. On occasion we may opt to ship USPS. You will be notified if your package is to ship via a service other than UPS. Shipping rates only apply to items $49 or less. Shipping is free on all orders the retail value of which exceed $49. For UPS shipments we must have a street address to deliver merchandise to. NO P.O. BOXES.
To find out what the shipping rate is for a particular item (under $49), simply put the item in your Shopping Cart by clicking on the Buy button. Rates are based on weight, dimensions and delivery zone.
Please keep in mind that all delivery estimates are just that: estimates. Because actual delivery times are subject to various factors beyond our control, such as adverse weather conditions and other carrier delays, The Mountain Outfitters cannot guarantee your package will arrive within the estimated delivery time. If time is critical and you need your items by a specified date, please call us at (931) 924-4100 and we will investigate additional shipping options (such as 2 day or overnight delivery). Orders are typically shipped out in 1-2 business days. All products are shipped from our store in Tennessee. If you would rather come into the store and pick up your package, please do not complete the purchase on the website. Instead, after you have the information about the particular item in hand, call us at (931) 924-4100. This will allow us to run your credit card information over the phone and hold the package for you. If you would like us to deliver a package to a Sewanee student or a Sewanee or Monteagle resident for you, we will be happy to do so at no charge if you give us a call at (931) 924-4100 so we can work out the details.
UPS and USPS do not count the pick-up day as a day in transit. The average time in transit for UPS Ground is 3-6 business days, but please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery depending on your location and other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us for tracking information on your package. We will be happy to supply you with the carrier’s tracking number(s) for your order if at all possible.
UPS does not deliver Saturday or Sunday, nor do they count them as days in transit. Any order placed on Friday will be shipped out the following Monday, including Next Day Air packages.
Shipping Damage
Any product received that has been damaged during shipping must be reported to us immediately. Call to notify us of the damage. We will contact the shipping carrier and have the shipment picked up. Please leave the package in the condition you received it in the original box. All claims are processed through the carrier.
